Qualcomm

Concept

When Qualcomm first approached SC Pictures, their Commercial Team wanted to build a library of assets featuring their Snapdragon chip to use over the next several years. The plan was to do a still shoot around Dallas, utilizing three locations: an office space, a home, and an airport. When the client saw a bit more of our work, they asked to add footage alongside the stills, which we were excited to do. Then, as luck would have it,  a second division of Qualcomm- their Consumer Team- asked to join the party! They wanted to capture some additional assets for their respective needs, so we added days to capture an additional home, a library/university space, and a second airport execution. The shoot went from three days to five, from one client to many, and from five principal talent to twenty. None of this would have normally phased us, but we were less than two weeks out before the shoot. For those of you who know us, you know that we wouldn't have it any other way. We said "Let's Go," and figured out how to make it happen.

Execution

In order to capture all the requested assets on the shot list (and more- as is our M.O.), we had to plan our schedule strategically. We needed to differentiate the Commercial and the Consumer images, so we thought a lot about how to make the compositions have their own feel. We leaned on the wardrobe department to help give the images a distinct look.  For the Consumer images, we worked to achieve a classic, professional look while not being too rigid. With Consumer, our target demographic skewed a bit younger, so we played with brighter colors and looser fabrics for a more casual and trendy feel. Both sets of photos highlighted the importance of saturated primary colors, specifically reds, which are tied to the Snapdragon branding.

Our schedule was a five-day marathon to make it all happen. We spent the first two days tackling our original Commercial shot list. We utilized a We-Share space to capture the office assets. We chose a location on a top floor to see the expansive skyline in the background of our shots. On the second day of shooting, we moved to a home location that offered a variety of looks and feels. From the comfort of the living room to the structure of their home office to the expansive outdoor spaces, we utilized every angle to show the versatility of the Qualcomm devices.

On day three, we began working with our Consumer client and turned a rental space into a university library and coffee shop. Day four was the big crossover day.  We had both clients on set for the Airport space. We all know how hard it is to shoot in an airport, even if you are shooting for the airport, so we opted for the Meyerson Symphony Hall, which is an impressive I.M. Pei-designed building. Its 2nd floor can double as an airport easily with the property signage and props. As always, we put our production designer to the test.  We captured some epic shots for both teams that day and secured a restaurant across the street to capture our cafe shots.  We said goodbye to our Consumer client that evening and then headed into our final day, which was solely with the commercial client. Day 5 was spent in another home- this one a bit more modern and hip than the first one. We created everything from a podcast studio, a recording space, a gamer's paradise, and a home crafts business with lots of shipping all in one house. When the day was all wrapped up, we celebrated a week of hard work!

RESULT

We came away with 125 retouched still images, 200 cut and colored video clips shot on a RED 8k camera, and phone footage which was shot on a Samsung S25 Ultra, which features the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Some of the phone footage looked absolutely amazing. (watch out ARRI/Red) We are proud of what we were able to accomplish in a short time, and we look forward to seeing it in the wild for years to come. The team from the agency and the clients were supercool. They knew what they needed and were very collaborative.
